After all the OpenAI news this week, I expected to mute all tech news for approximately… forever.
You can imagine my surprise, then, when my Italian mother (who isn’t particularly plugged into the tech scene and lovingly pronounces the field “heart-ificial intelligence”), sent me this text: Fascinating article about Sam Altman 😘.
Not only had the OpenAI ex-ex-CEO made his way into my mom’s orbit, but there I was, like Pavlov’s dog to the bell, clicking to read yet another piece about the 38-year-old wunderkind.
But this article was different. Unlike the news cycle that changes with the wind, this was a profile written by the ever-talented Elizabeth Weil two months before last weekend’s debacle.
Like the best profiles, you’ll leave feeling like you grabbed a beer with its subject. And if we’re all poised to enter the kingdom of AI, it behooves us to get to know the man holding the keys.
Here’s the piece: Sam Altman Is the Oppenheimer of Our Age
Personal updates:

The Good Enough Job has been out for six months and, as of this week, it has more than 3,500 reviews on Amazon and Goodreads! Thank you for all the support 😊.

P.S. The song of the week is a Brazilian electronic track that’ll have you dancing samba in your seat. The full songs of the week playlist is here.
