What is the right degree of panic?
That’s the question I keep batting around whenever I think about climate change. The headlines blare so loudly and constantly that they’ve almost begun to fade into the background. Wildfires, heatwaves, hurricanes, the list goes on…
I appreciated the angle of the Jia Tolentino piece I’m sending out this week because it discusses the inner effects of climate change—that is to say how climate change affects our psyches, and what to do about it.
On one end of the spectrum, there’s head-in-the-sand denial. On the other, there’s climate doomerism. It’s hard to know where to locate yourself on the spectrum. This week’s article helped me gain some perspective.
Here’s the piece: What to do with climate emotions
Personal updates:
I wrote one of my favorite essays I’ve written in a while: In praise of the meandering career
I also appeared on The Financial Feminist Podcast and in this CNN article.
Warmly,

P.S. The song of the week is a smooth instrumental from the Japanese producer Nujabes. The full songs of the week playlist is here.
